Our Pastor, Father Garisto

Father James Garisto has been pastor of St. Peter’s Parish since 1998. Father Garisto received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from DeSales University in 1970. In addition, he received a Master of Theology degree from Catholic University in 1976, a Master of Education degree from Temple University in Philadelphia in 1981, and did post-graduate studies in educational administration at Columbia University from 1992 until 1994. Father Garisto was ordained a priest in 1976 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was a teacher for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia from 1976 until 1979.
In September 1979, he entered the Archdiocese of New York, where he served as assistant pastor at St. Lucy’s Parish in the Bronx and then at Our Lady, Queen of Peace in Staten Island. From 1990 until 1998, Father served as the assistant principal and science department chairperson at St. Joseph’s by-the-Sea High School in Staten Island.
